Earth. Elements. Environment.

Staging!  Science! Social Action!

SINGING, DANCING, ACTING, SET DESIGN and CREATIVE WRITING with an environmental message. 1-3 weeks of camp ending in a full production, June 15-July 3, 9am-3pm, ages 5-14, The Irish Center in Mt. Airy. REGISTER NOW

Week 1 : June 15/16 – June 19

Chill and Build

The first week we will lay the groundwork for the production.  This involves playing improvisation games, and scaffolding the music, the movements and the message with low intensity.  Campers will help mold the show with their knowledge and skills in science, performing arts, writing, and design in a workshop-like atmosphere.  *Monday, June 15th is an optional but included day for folks who need a breather after school and the Staging Journeys spring show ends before starting up again!

Week 2 : June 22 – June 26

Rev-Up and Rehearse

The second week we will begin with casting. Then we’ll dive into rehearsals inside the theater, and branch out with environmental social action in the community.  The atmosphere takes on a more traditional and busy theater vibe as the directors and teachers lead young people toward project goals.

Week 3 : June 29 – July 2/3

High-Gear and Showtime

The third week is exciting!  We will fine-tune, tech/dress rehearse, bring in the band, and present you with a FULL musical theater production on Thursday, July 2nd.  *Friday, July 3rd is an optional but included day for folks taking off for the holiday weekend.  At camp, we will enjoy post-show contemplation and celebration.

We will take several walking explorations from The Irish Center to Carpenter’s Woods each week of camp. These walks aim to bridge nature and performance, to provide opportunities to observe and connect in the woods, and to share our pro-environment messages with the neighborhood through songs and signs.
